Brexit update: where do we stand now?
For companies that do business with the UK, a number of changes will probably occur on 29 March 2019. So close to the deadline and it is still unclear whether we are dealing with a ‘hard’ Brexit where the UK will immediately leave the customs union or that there will be another variant. As a best preparation we now start with that hard Brexit; then it can only be better.
Update Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Europa Japan
After a long period of uncertainty it is now clear that the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Europe Japan will enter into force on February 1, 2019. The full agreement consists out of over 900 pages. Although everything is equally important there are still some things worth mentioning.
Toll in Germany considerably more expensive as of 1 January 2019
The German government has decided to significantly increase the toll (Maut) for lorries from 1 January 2019. The rates go up by 20 to even 60 percent. This increase has an impact on transport tariffs to Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
